Rome Holiday Apartments
As the home of the Pope and Roman Catholic Church, Vatican City is a
marvel to behold. The artwork that graces this tiny plaza--which is itself
a sovereign nation--is exquisite, and the architecture is magnificent.
Crowds of the devout fill the Vatican daily, many more on Sundays and on
holidays--it can actually get quite crowded!
Enjoying the Holy City
The Vatican is a busy place any day of the year, but holidays are
especially important. Pilgrims from around the world come to see the holy
relics of the church, as well as to celebrate mass with the highest
officials in the church. Many stay for days or weeks trying to get a
glimpse of the Pope, while others come when he's sure to be visible.
Holidays like Easter and Christmas usually promise at least one mass that
is presided over by the Pope himself, if not more. Many lesser-known
Catholic holidays also attract large crowds--for example, the Feast of the
Annunciation (nine months before Christmas), Ash Wednesday (the first day
of Lent), and the Birth of the Blessed Mother Mary (in September) are all
prominent Catholic holidays. If you're traveling to see the Pope and the
Vatican, these are great times to go.
At BestInRome.com, we have several apartments to rent within walking
distance of St. Peter's Basilica, the central cathedral in Vatican City.
Our apartments are great places from which to enjoy the Holy City, and
save you the trouble of finding hotel reservations at these crowded
holiday times. For most Catholics, the Vatican is the main reason to come
to Rome--so be sure to pick a time and place to get the most from your
travels.
