Here in the charming streets of the Suburra, a residential district where Julius Caesar grew up, is a unique pair of apartments with an adjoining staircase perfect for a large family or group of friends with a very special grotto bathroom. The downstairs grotto part of the apartment was once used as a wine cellar and is naturally cool, and the owner has thoughtfully installed an excellent dehumidifier for your comfort. One of the charming aspects of this downstairs apartment is the spiral staircase that leads to the first floor, however, it is not recommended for persons of large girth. Combined with the large upstairs apartment which has a romantic loft bedroom, the two apartments easily hold 10-12 persons. The owner of the apartment is a journalist for one of the major TV stations of Italy, and speaks flawless English. Although the building itself dates from the 1600's (you can see in the grotto bathroom that the foundations include marble and pottery from Roman times), it has been recently redecorated and completely redone to offer all the modern comforts you could desire. The main entrance to the apartments is on the ground floor, and there are a few small steps at the entrance. Only the lofted part of these 2 apartments is air-conditioned.
